ABOUT BRIAN WEISMANTLE
MY HISTORY
I was born, raised and continue to live in the Northside section of the City of Pittsburgh. Additionally, I have been married for 37 years and am the proud father of two daughters. With over 25 years in law enforcement, I retired as a Homicide Detective from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, having investigated more than 1,000 death-related cases. I have also served for more than 30 years in the U.S. Military and continue to serve as a Master Sergeant until my retirement August 1, 2025 . In addition, I bring over a decade of experience as a licensed private investigator, with a strong background in both civil and criminal investigations.

25 YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT
- Retired as a Homicide Detective after 25 years of service with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
- Assigned to the Homicide Unit for the last 18 ½ years of his career.
- Worked as a Narcotics Detective, a Burglary/Fraud Detective and a uniformed patrol officer; walked the beat in Zone 5.
- Worked sexual assault cases.
- Investigated more than 1,000 death-related cases, which included homicides, suicides, drug-related deaths, accidental deaths, automobile accidents and job-site deaths and critical incidents, including officer-involved shootings.
- Conducted thousands of interviews of witnesses, specifically police officers, doctors, victims and lay persons, which were essential in preparation for testimony in court.
- Commended for his work and dedication by the District Attorney’s Office and was awarded the “Special Award for Exemplary Homicide Prosecution” at the 11th Annual Amen Corner, Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards on October 14, 2011.
30+ YEARS OF MILITARY SERVICE
- Continues to serve in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, a component of the U.S. Air Force, until my retirement, August 1, 2025
- Served as a Law Enforcement Officer in the Military while assigned to the Security Forces Squadron.
- Master Sergeant: Ground Transportation, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC). Supervised and trained section staff members. Trained necessary unit members on required vehicle operations and issue licenses.
- Master Sergeant-Force Support Squadron Personnel Technician: human resource personnel duties, managed junior enlisted members.
- Master/First Sergeant: liaison between the Mission Support Group Commander and enlisted personnel within the group command. Supervised enlisted members and advised the commander on matters influencing the health, morale, welfare, quality of life issues and effective utilization of enlisted members.
- Technical Sergeant-Wing Commander’s Office (General): administrative tasks; maintained personnel files and training records of unit members.
- Technical Sergeant-Personnel Office: trained and supervised junior airmen, maintained training records and personnel files, enlistments, re-enlistments, deployment preparation.
- Staff Sergeant-Personnel Office: trained and supervised junior airmen, maintained training records and personnel files, enlistments, re-enlistments, deployment preparation.
- Staff Sergeant: Office functions.
- Section Chief, Retention NCO: Ammunitions supervisor: maintain/distribute ammunitions.

- La Roche College - Pittsburgh, PA: Bachelor of Arts Degree-Criminal Justice; Minor in Sociology. Graduated with honors.
